    Recovery Specialist Fundamentals & Application

    The Role of the Recovery Specialist, Introduction to Professional Ethics,  Overview of Fields of Addiction and Mental Health, Applying and Honing the Skills & Tools of the Recovery Specialist, Developing Recovery Capital, Role & Relevance of the Family, Creating Client Goals, Recovery Plans & Crisis Management and De-escalation tools

     

  • CRS LEVEL 2: Days 3 & 4
    Diving Deeper as a Recovery Specialist & Becoming a Professional

     

    Ethics in the Recovery Role, Safe Passage, Recognizing Detox, Relapse/Recurrence, Co-Occurring Disorders, Abstinence and Behavior Change Contracts, Building a Recovery Toolbox,  Professional Standards, CRS Portfolio, Scope of Practice, Collaborating with Community Professionals

  • CRS Consultation Group

    Completion of six (6) 2-hour consultation calls (over Zoom) must be completed within 12 months of completion of in-person training course.  
    Consultation group will be a presentation of a sample case study.  Consultation is scheduled after 4-day training is completed.

    *completion of CRS Level 1 & 2 and consultation are required for full certification

***If purchasing Level 1 & 2 together at the time of registration, consultation fee will be included. Payment plans are available .

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

To become a certified IRI Recovery Specialist the following are required:

  • Complete CRS Level 1 & Level 2 and CRS Consultation
  • Complete all quizzes, assignments, and study modules
  • Submit three letters of reference (2 professional, 1 personal)
  • Proof of liability insurance. If working independently, students must obtain personal liability insurance. Should the student be working with a company, a signed letter from said company stating that insurance is provided through employment will suffice.

Recertification Requirements

Initial certification is awarded upon successful completion of all requirements of Levels 1 & 2 training to include consultation.  Initial certification is valid for two year from the date all requirements are satisfied and verified. 

To retain the title of IRI CRS after the expiration date, students must continue to meet the high ethical standards set forth by IRI.  Students are required to complete the following to renew their certification for another year:  

  • Evidence of completion of 10 addiction/mental health CEUs per year
  • Current proof of malpractice insurance
  • Updated contact information, including work & personal email and phone numbers
  • Signed Ethics and policy statement
  • Recertification fee of $150.

Participation in the Recovery Specialist Alumni Retreat/Workshop and/or IRI Advanced Courses is highly encouraged.  CEUs earned can be applied to recertification.
