Overview

International Recovery Institute offers a cutting-edge 3-day training led by top professionals in the addiction field.

To become a certified IRI Recovery Specialist the following are required:

  • Complete the 3-day training course
  • Complete all exams
  • Submit three letters of reference (2 professional,1 personal)
  • Proof of liability insurance is also mandatory. If working independently, students must obtain personal liability insurance. Should the student be working with a company, a signed letter from said company stating that insurance is provided through employment will suffice.
  • Complete 6 weekly consultation calls (to be scheduled after 3-day training is completed)

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, students will be awarded with a Recovery Specialist certification, valid for two years.

10 weeks; twice weekly meetings, 2 hours each, over Zoom

Virtual Training, Monthly Track

8 months; twice monthly meetings, 2 hours each, over Zoom 

Includes 6, 2-hour consultation calls taking place in months  7 & 8 of training, must be completed within 2 years of initial registration

8 monthly payments of $269, due at the beginning of each month of training goes toward modules as listed below ($2152 total)

Recovery Specialist certification, valid for two years

Upon successful completion of the course, students will become proficient in:

The Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) training & certification process includes

  • 24 hours of theoretical training and coaching (live and/or online)
  • 12 hours of online groups and calls to support experiential learning.
  • Access to IRI’s e-learning platform 
  • Online and downloadable recovery coach manual
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Continuing Education Units in Ethics and Recovery Specialist Theory & Practice
  • Certification of Recovery Specialist, valid for 2 years
  • National accreditation through NAADAC and local accreditation through PCB.

Recertification Requirements

To retain the title of IRI CRS after the expiration date, students must continue to meet the high ethical standards set forth by IRI.  Recertification is required every 2 years and the recertification requirements are:

  • Evidence of completion of 10 addiction/mental health CEUs per year
  • Current proof of malpractice insurance
  • Updated contact information, including work & personal email and phone numbers
  • Signed Ethics statement
  • Recertification fee of $150.
